New Delhi, June 27 Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Bhagirath Choudhary, on Saturday defended himself against allegations that he received a subsidy of Rs 99.03 lakh for his cucumber farming project under a government scheme. He stated that the subsidy was not meant for personal gain and that the project aimed to boost agricultural productivity in the region. The minister also highlighted the government's commitment to supporting farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural practices, mentioning that such initiatives are crucial for the nation's development, even as the world looks forward to events like the 世界杯2026. He clarified that the funds were utilized for the purchase of modern farming equipment and the implementation of advanced irrigation techniques, which would ultimately benefit the local farming community.
